The Institute for the Management of Information Systems (IMIS) wanted to revise their method of assessing applicants for membership to the Institute and make it more objective. They wanted the new process to be based on the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA), emerging as an IS industry standard.
IMIS also wanted potential members to be able to apply and be assessed on-line, as a way to give applicants instant results and as an alternative to filling out paper application forms.
The existing assessment process was quite complex and subjective. First we needed to break this down and redesign it using the skills described in SFIA as a standard. Once we had achieved this, we could work on making the assessment an interactive process on-line.
