The Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) publishes the Schemes of work yearly as individual printed paper units, grouped in folders according to subject. The Schemes are also published on the DfEE Standards web site which includes the options of downloading PDF and MS Word files.
The same material was developed three times, one for each medium, with three lots of proof-reading and amendments. This working method was slow, expensive and unreliable. The demand to publish in all formats simultaneously to tight deadlines made the existing working method impractical.
Our brief was to solve these problems by creating a new working method and making the tools to support it. There would also need to be training for COI, QCA and their suppliers, along with support during production.
