We redrew the main campus map to make it more accurate at a large scale, as well as to reflect the 'view from the ground'. It was also felt that a 'heads-up' orientation would make the maps more usable. Unlike the general campus map issued to visitors, the 'heads-up' orientation meant that users could directly match what they see on the campus in front of them with the map that they are consulting.
The final maps were consistent with the colour palette and style of the new University signage system, whilst being more legible and usable by visitors with visual impairments and those in wheelchairs.
The first stage of this project is now complete; work on more maps for the campuses is ongoing.
