We were asked to work with the University’s signage and wayfinding strategy group to provide a system for internal signage for the University of Reading.
The new system would be a development of some aspects of signage already established at the University, but be a more complete and consistent approach.
We had to deliver our findings within two weeks of the start of the project.
We had a tight schedule and started with a brief visit to a key University building to assess general signage needs. We then described an outline framework for internal signs (types and positioning); this was followed by ‘desk research’ and discussions with sign manufacturers to suggest ‘signage hardware’/systems to the University. We then created draft designs and an outline specifications document for the signs.
The initial report was delivered on time and has helped to inform the current internal signage policy at the University. Our work with the University’s signage and wayfinding strategy group on this project is ongoing.
