Our approach (continued)

In addition to this, we noted new types of signs not covered by the existing system and provided preliminary sketches showing how these signs could look. The results of our survey were presented as area-specific photograph-based documents and maps indicating where new signs were required.

Our solution

We presented our results as a photograph and map-based inventory, a simple list or tally of signs needed, and a report on wayfinding issues specific to the University campuses. These gave detailed recommendations regarding

• the quantity and type of external signage needed on the two campuses;
• where these signs should be installed;
• the type of information the signs should provide; and
• how the existing signage system could be extended to include signs or similar wayfinding devices not currently covered.
