The Hospital Consultants & Specialists Association (HCSA) is a Trade Union affiliated to the TUC representing and advising senior medical and surgical staff in the UK.
The HCSA needed a website which would be an essential resource for members; a largely-private space for discussions and advice.
We wanted to radically simplify the existing 'public' HCSA website and make it more than a source of contact and membership details. We decided to focus on services and links for members in a private, secure space.
We wanted to build on the successful and valued confidential advice service operated by the Association, supplemented with relevant, up-to-date news and discussions.
We also felt it was important to reduce the administration overhead of the Association by allowing members to update their own details on the Association's admin database.
For membership organisations, the website should be a way of developing community and engaging members in debate, decision and action.
